There is no reason to fear hurricanes, but there is every reason to respect them. We respect these storms by preparing, following the instructions of emergency managers, having proper barrier protection (awnings), and installing standby electrical power.

Think for a moment what happens during a prolonged power outage after a hurricane or tropical storm
