Backup Power Generators for Assisted Living Homes & Nursing Homes
|
Market savvy consumers are now asking for backup power in their choice of an assisted living facility. Many have already been exposed to the stressful experience of prolonged power failures from hurricanes and tropical storms and don't want to ever go through it again. Consequently, USGenerator ® has engaged the services of a professional electrical engineer to custom design the complex task of emergency power for not only assisted living but skilled nursing facilities requiring AHCA approval. Our electrical engineer manages your project and presses it to a timely conclusion.
Backup Generators Solve Problems for You
It only takes 35 mph of wind to knock out power. This means that you don't need a hurricane direct hit to find yourself without electricity for an unknown time period. Without backup power, how will you handle the food service? When do you evacuate? If you evacuate, will you get trapped on traffic choked highways? And where do you go? The tracks of storms could very well impact your escape destination. Staying put in a well constructed building with backup power solves virtually every problem associated with a prolonged power failure.
Backup Generators Protect the Physical Plants
Mold engineers tell us it only takes 48 hours for black mold to get started in sheetrock and behind walls after a storm passage. Without backup power, the vital dehumidifying provided by your electrically powered A/C system is inoperative. Normally at about 60% relative humidity, once your facility loses power, the buildings turn into giant sponges soaking up the overlying parcel of supersaturated air. At 95% humidity and 90 plus degrees, black mold can completely destroy building interiors and in the 2004 hurricane season, entire multistory condominiums were condemned. Other buildings became "sick" and required extensive remediation before they became habitable again. And now, many insurance companies will not insure against mold damage or require a prohibitively expensive deductible.
Older Nursing Homes With Minimal Backup Power
Does your facility have a small generator that meets the minimal requirements and only powers a few critical systems? If so, you're exposing yourself to virtually the same problems as having no backup power at all. You have the awesome responsibility for the safety and comfort of the nursing home residents, but without a proper sized generator, you might as well have none at all and face the same problems as the assisted living facility. We can redesign your current system and augment what you have now with additional power and eliminate 99% of your problems.
The Process
- Give us a call and make an appointment
- We come out, have a short meeting with you, answer your initial questions and do a preliminary walk-through with your facilities manager
- Our professional electrical engineer gives us an estimate of the cost of the special permit and the cost of the engineering design for your facility. We provide a ballpark estimate on the entire job
- You approve or disapprove of proceeding with the engineering study, the cost of which will be provided before you give us the go-ahead to do it
- Once we get the engineer's plans our independent master electricians provide a final cost for the turn-key installation
- If you decide to go forward with the project, we will give you a credit for the engineering plans
- If you decide to wait, we'll bill you for the plans which can be used at a later date if you so desire
